Everything You Need

For Your Relaxing Getaway!

Everything You Need

For Your Relaxing Getaway!

The cabin is nestled in a peaceful birch, maple and pine forest next to a ravine, and provides romantic views from every window. You'll feel totally private, comfy and relaxed. The sun rises across the street from the cabin — over Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. You can catch glimpses of the lake in early spring and late fall, and will see even more of the lake in the winter. Because the cabin is away from city lights, you'll also see an abundance of stars at night — and yes, the Milky Way, too!

Whether you are the outdoor adventure type who has come to experience all the area has to offer, or simply want to relax with a good book on the cabin's deck overlooking our ravine, you’ll agree that Hauser's Bayfield Cabin is a tranquil place to stay. Our guestbook is filled with comments about getaways that have been very relaxing experiences — and just what our guests needed!

You'll feel cozy and snug amidst the cabin’s pleasant furnishings, hardwood floors, knotty pine ceilings, and quartzite walls. There are fresh breezes through the numerous large windows in spring, summer, and fall — and very even heat in winter from the eco-friendly geothermal heating system — or you can have a romantic fire using the wood stove and heat the cabin with the wood stove for your entire stay!. The geothermal system will also air condition the cabin in the summer, though with our lovely climate, it is rare that the cabin needs it.

At night the forest is aglow with lights — very romantic year round, but especially in winter, when from late December to late February we add tiny white lights to the wrap-around deck railings and some of the pines in back! You can control the tiny lights from your remote inside.

In spring, summer and fall you can enjoy a peaceful meal at the dinette set on the back deck overlooking the forest and ravine. For barbecues we have a Weber grill — don't forget to bring charcoal and lighter fluid. And what is a trip to the northwoods without a night around the fire? We supply the outdoor fire pit and seating — we usually have a supply of firewood near the pit, but you can hunt for dead wood in the forest out back if you like! Indoors, we have a Pacific Energy Neo 1.6 wood stove — please use the 12 inch wood from our woodpile. The stove produces a romantic ambiance and nice heat, and is quieter than using the geothermal heating system with no fans blowing air!

In the winter, you'll have free use of our Yukon Charlie snowshoes with poles. There is plenty of room for your snowmobile and trailer — or boat trailer in the summer — in the driveway.

If you find you need contact with the outside world, we have free wifi, and wireless Panasonic phones with free local and long-distance calling.

While staying at the cabin, away from the traffic and noise, you'll still be able to enjoy all that Bayfield, Cornucopia, the Chequamegon Bay area, the Apostle Islands including Madeline Island, and Lake Superior have to offer. Apostle Islands National Lakeshore's Little Sand Bay and it's beautiful beach are just 4 miles up the road — or just a short paddle away. Eight miles up Highway 13 toward Cornucopia is Meyer's Beach, with a hiking trail and kayaking access to the sea caves. In winter, Meyer's Beach is the access point to hike to the ice caves when they are open. We are the closest lodging establishment to the ice caves in the Bayfield area! Bayfield, and the ferry to Madeline Island, are just 15 minutes — that's 10 miles — away. Cornucopia is about 16 miles away. Washburn is 23 miles away. Ashland is 34 miles away. The new Legendary Waters Casino is 8 miles away.

Let our cabin be your home away from home!

Comfy and Cozy!

The living room has a leather sofa, Southwestern chairs, and a chaise lounge for curling up together. There is a new copper-sided wood stove for cozy evenings. The cabin has recessed lighting throughout, on dimmers with remote control. Enjoy your favorite music on the stereo system, which streams via PANDORA or SIRIUS SATELLITE. The music plays through the speakers in the living room from the Grace Digital Radio unit located in the bedroomUse the remote to switch the music from bedroom to living room.

Pass the time quietly reading. The cabin has a variety of interesting books and magazines. Or to liven things up, why not play a game? There is a stone domino set, a backgammon set, and playing cards. There are also quite a few board games — including Tribond, Bezzerwizzer, Balderdash, Cranium, Wood Teasers, Huggermugger, Dabble, Outburst, Men are From Mars/Women are From Venus, Know Your Partner, Clue, Whoonu, Bubble Talk, Sex in the City, Texas Holdem Poker (with chips), Trivial Pursuit, and more.

Throughout the cabin are beautiful photos of the ice caves taken during the phenomenal ice cave season of 2014.

A Gourmet Cook's Delight!

Kitchen

A Gourmet Cook's Delight!

Because there are so many great restaurants in the area, guests frequently opt to dine out — but if a little gourmet creativity is your way to relax, you'll love our kitchen — which has granite counter tops, knotty cherry cabinets, knotty pine ceilings, quartzite walls and a center island for prep and dining!

There is a refrigerator, a vintage Montgomery Ward stove, a stainless GE profile convection microwave oven, a toaster oven, a Keurig coffee maker, a regular coffee maker, stainless steel sinks in a center island, and a dishwasher. In the cabinets and drawers you'll find dishes, silverware, glasses, coffee cups, etc.

There are pots and pans, a crock pot, a pizza pan, a cookie sheet, a baking pan, measuring spoons and cups, Kitchenaid knives, a wine opener, paper towels, Kleenex, dish soap, and hand soap.

We supply a variety of spices — from salt and pepper, garlic and onion powder, to Italian and Hawaiian spices. All guests receive a complimentary coffee pack for the traditional coffee maker, some Kcups for the Keurig, a free Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn pack, and dog treats if you have a dog.

The kitchen also has a white mushroom-shaped mosquito trap — should one ever dare venture in on your back. We've tried to think of everything.

The cabin's bedroom has pine and quartzite walls with windows overlooking the forest, a dresser and an armoire, romantic candles, chocolate candies, and the most heavenly bed you've ever slept on — the Queen Serta IComfort Savant, with remote control for three levels of vibration. You can raise and lower the head and foot — or try the bed in “zero gravity” mode!

Extra sheets are provided and there are plenty of blankets. You can dim the lights with the remote control dimmer, and settle in for FREE AMAZON PRIME MOVIES via the Roku on the Samsung flat screen Smart TV — the Roku provides faster streaming than the Smart TV.

The beautiful designer ceramic tile bathroom has a tub/shower, sink and toilet. We provide soft luxury bath towels, a soap dispenser, a small pack of shampoo and conditioner, mini soaps, and toilet paper. There is a blow dryer in the bottom of the bathroom vanity.
